Cambrian Rise Community Provides Diverse Housing Opportunities
The construction currently underway on the Cambrian Rise site will create hundreds of living spaces for diverse groups of Burlington’s citizens – approximately 250 of which will be owned/managed (for rent) or sponsored (for sale) by the community's non-profit partners.
While Farrell Properties is well-known in the area for providing market-rate apartments with ample amenities, other well-known members of the housing community are present in the Cambrian Rise community as well – Champlain Housing Trust and Cathedral Square Corporation.
First to break ground, the Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) is constructing The Laurentide, which will house rental units for individuals and families, in units sized from one to three bedrooms. The Laurentide will be owned, leased and managed by CHT and anticipates a Summer 2019 opening. Their new Rental Housing Application form is now available (with information about qualifications for tenants) and can be found on the CHT website.
Additionally, Cathedral Square Corporation (CSC), a non-profit focused on creating homes and communities for positive aging in Vermont, is building units that are specially designed and designated for an older adult population. With construction anticipated in 2 phases, Phase I is expected to break ground in 2019. They, too, will own, lease and manage their property.
Each of these buildings and their respective residents will be an integral part of the life, energy and culture of Cambrian Rise, which will provide new and existing Burlington residents a place to live, work, grow and play in an innovative, diverse and inclusive community.
From apartments to condos, office space to commercial space, restaurants to cafes, this lakeside development is set to bring a variety of opportunity to our city.
